The Golden Bird Award In 1996, Carol Hollister was the President of DAS and made a motion to introduce The Golden Bird Award. This award was voted on by DAS members, and was to be given annually to the member whom the majority felt had done the most for avicultural over the previous year. The achievements of the recipient did not necessarily have to be involved with DAS, but the winner must be a member of DAS in the year in which they received award. For the first nine years, it had been decided that no member could win the award twice... but this was changed in 2005 to allow every member the chance to win the award each year. It is considered an honour to to receive this award even once, but... only one person has been voted as the most outstanding member more than once...
